【陳方瑩／南投報導】南投縣埔里鎮長周義雄與社會處、榮民服務處多名志工，今天上午10時，前往中山路退休老榮民王錫強住宅，慶祝他百歲生日，除了切蛋糕並贈送禮物，周義雄說，活到100歲真不簡單，祝他「呷兩百」，家裡難得這麼熱鬧，老人笑得好開心，他說，養生之道就是勤勞動，三餐正常，吃自己種的菜。
 
榮民服務處志工說，老先生是潮州人，來台已經超過一甲子，1959年退役後，與妻子在埔里過著農耕生活，育有一子已經退休。近年來，老先生智力漸漸退化，夫妻身體都不好，經常看病住院，家中經濟也因此陷入困頓，老人最須要的是持續的關心和陪伴，希望他晚年開心沒煩惱。
